Valeriy Gridnev

Born 01/01/56

Valery was born in the Urals, Russia in 1956. He was educated in Sverdlovsk Art College from 1978-1980 before studying for seven years at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. On completion of the advanced course at the USSR Academy of Arts he won the extremely prestigious Gold Medal with his painting 'Early Years'. In the early nineties he worked in the creative studio at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts.

Valery has been a member of the Russian Artist's Federation since 1991. His work hangs in collections worldwide as a result of various exhibitions in Germany, Russia, London and America.

Valeriy's portraits are steeped in the true academic training of the USSR. He always makes a sketch of the composition to show a client and then paints entirely from life. They are beautifully executed and timeless works of art. He is arguably the most prolific of the Russian portrait painters working in London.
